Individual Mindsports Coaching
Become a more accomplished athlete and person, whatever your age or playing level – by mastering the mental andphysical aspects of the game. Mindsports is a unique approach which blends the two aspects, to create a more multi-dimensional player.
As an educational and sports psychologist, and a former collegiate basketball player in the USA, Larry possesses both extensive experience and knowledge of what an athlete is experiencing. He has worked with a range of National Basketball League teams and individual athletes.
As a sports psychologist and consultant, Larry has also been engaged to do Mindsports® work with individual members of the Australian Ballet. Because Larry’s Mindsports® works with mental and motivational skills, he has worked with amateur and professional basketball players, and also applied the Mindsports® techniques to those who play football, participate in athletics, and play golf.
Individual Basketball Coaching
Are you, or your child, interested in complementing the basketball training and instruction you are currently receiving? Mastering the mental and physical aspects of the game can help you develop into a more accomplished and balanced athlete and person. The uniqueness of the Mindsports technique is the integration of physical and mental skills development to produce a multi-dimensional player.
What is on offer?
- Basic Skills: focusing the three key areas of ball handling, shooting and foot-work. as well as mental toughness strategies. At the end of these 3 sessions, a player will receive an appraisal with recommendations for further development.
- Advanced/ongoing Training: For those players who want ongoing training and development. They may opt for weekly or bi-monthly sessions to suit their needs.
Team Development
Larry’s focus has always been on what makes individuals and groups, of all sizes and types (sporting teams, corporate teams, artistic and educational teams etc.) productive and successful. There is little difference between coaching a sporting team to perform on the playing field and gaining the best results from your business team. Both need practical skills, a productive approach, and the ability to put runs on the board. Therefore, Larry’s High Performance Team Development process is designed to harness the personal power of each individual team member to create a collaborative team with a shared purpose and approach to organisation success.
Mindsports Presentations:
In addition to Mindsports coaching, Larry is also available to make Mindsports presentations to whole clubs, associations, and sporting bodies focusing on the mental skills that compliment physical abilities.
Renowned for his motivational impact, he is a highly experienced presenter. Larry has given presentations at Harvard University, The University of California, the Australian Academy of Science in Canberra; and appeared on radio and television through the USA, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and India, including the ABC Evening sports news, NBC-TV New York Evening News, BBC-TV England, and RAI TV Rome.

Cultural Change Consulting

The process (CLCP) educates and trains multiple layers of managers for the unique challenges of leading and structuring their organisation in such a way as to embrace repeated change/renewal processes.
Leadership Team Development
The objective of the Leadership Team Development process is to build a motivated and high performance management team with a shared purpose and vision, goals, and standards of behaviour.
The High Performance Team is defined as: “A small number of people with complimentary skills, who are commited to a common purpose, performance goals, and approach for which they hold themselves mutually accountable.” The dynamic HP Team Development program and follow-up process trains the team and provides coaching for individual team members to enable the group to become such a team.
Transformational Leadership Program (TLP)
The TLP is designed to challenge, stretch, and prepare participants to reach their potential for leadership. It focuses on three areas: Self-management; The Key Attributes of Leadership; and Strategic Team Work. The style of the program incorporates dynamic learning environments that are interactive, challenging, and inspiring – allowing managers to enhance and develop their leadership capacities and skills in a safe and supportive setting.
The program is a structured, but flexible process that addresses and integrates the multiple concerns of leadership development. We work closely with the client organisation to ensure the TLP is adopted to meet their particular situation.
Executive Leadership Coaching
The One-on-One Leadership coaching process has been designed to guide executives/managers through a process of finding their own unique and authentic leadership style, to prepare them for their role as a leader in an organisation undergoing change/growth and competition.
Whilst there is considerable cognitive input around leadership skills and competencies, the Conscious Leadership Process focuses first on developing an inner framework and clarity by taking a more ‘inside-out’ approach to finding an authentic and powerful leadership purpose for each individual. It is also designed to have direct application to the leadership and strategic challenges faced by the individual and the organisation.
Deep Dive Program
Over the years, it has become apparent that organisations sometimes have an urgent need to develop individuals in very senior positions; in key corporate roles; or with high potential. For such individuals, it is not always sufficient or appropriate to simply place them in a group leadership development program, or a traditional one-on-one coaching format. Such programs may not provide the flexibility, resources, or intensity and challenge to stimulate the learning and development required to enable the candidate to face his or her current challenges.
Therefore, at “Just Add Water” my colleagues and I have developed the Deep Dive Executive Coaching Process to create a unique “Synergistic Coaching Environment”.
This intensive coaching program can fast track the development of key executives and high potential candidates, and play a key role in both talent development and retention.
